Fresh Inventory for a Fresh Look
As some of you may know, we recently underwent another in a series of remodels that have continuously improved the look and feel of Cornerstone. One of the differences this particular instance brings is that I have a platform on which I can prattle on about it. So bear with me as I lead you through a tour of the newly refurbished and restocked retail store!
The Book Nook Is Back!
Yes, our beloved Book Nook has made its fateful return to the store, but now less enclosed and more visible straightaway. We’re tired of passing good books straight through auctions, so we figured it was finally time to give them a fair shake at being seen for what they are instead of piles of paper crammed into a box. Our selection is particularly eclectic, so even if none of the books interest you, at least it’s for different reasons.
Where’d all the Tchotchkes go?
Yes, our many tables loaded with glassware and knickknacks have officially been recommissioned. Glassware is one of the toughest things to sell in this market, so their continuous influx resulted in garish piles of glass and porcelain that ultimately proved detrimental to the image of the store. Don’t worry, though! The better bric-a-bracs get to stick around, provided they show well. As such, we’ve packed a wall with shelves and are utilizing every horizontal surface we have to showcase all the unique and pretty trinkets that come through. After all, baubles look better when they’re put somewhere they can be better looked at.
Hutches Galore
When your monthly hutch total steadily climbs regardless of how many you manage to sell, you run out of room quickly, so it only stands to reason that these cruel blights on a store’s floor space should earn their keep in some fashion. They now look much better hosting our many rezoned decor items and stand in a line as a firm testament to their displayability. Fear not, though! If you’re one of those tenderhearted furniture lovers whose intent is to rehome a beautiful hutch, antique or otherwise, they’re still for sale! If you’re less tenderhearted and just live to see people suffer and scramble aimlessly while trying to find locations for 20+ now homeless trinkets, yes - even for you - they’re still for sale!
Improved Home Improvement
All our tools seem to sprout legs because they run out the door almost immediately after hitting the shelf (or pegboard, for our longer-handled friends). As such, it’s only responsible to expand our tools section and improve the selection of home improvement items. It’s far more organized with fewer radiator units crowding the floor and begging to be tripped over (but don’t worry - it hasn’t actually happened). They’re all still around, though, considering Indiana’s third summer is around the corner and no one’s thinking about space heaters yet. Since the space has doubled and the usable space has quadrupled (thanks to a useful invention known to most people as shelving), it still looks rather empty and is awaiting the next slew of tools to properly bring it to its deserved glory, but be sure to drop by and keep us from realizing that dream!
Homier Home Goods
What used to be electronics has been transformed into home goods. Yes, home goods is no longer a tiny pile of shelves exiled into the dark corner hidden by our beautiful (and still unpurchasable) Christmas display. I didn’t even know what was back there half the time. Now it’s more visible and more easily navigated, so if you’re in need of a common small appliance or just want to find something unusual to add to your collection, you’ll be in luck! We also have a growing collection of mugs, and if they’re anything like tribbles like I’ve found them to be, we need your help keeping them from overrunning the store!
The Man Cave
We finally moved our “guy stuff” to give it room to grow, and grow it did. Now it’s all where the glassware used to be instead of cramped into several small sections hidden from view. With such room to grow and evolve, this new area is perfect for our rate of stock rotation. As expected, the new space allotment has encouraged DVDs and CDs to move in, overtaking an entire wall of shelving, but that means there’s more to find! From old stereo equipment and VCRs to Blu-Rays and TVs, our electronics section always has something to accommodate that man cave you’ve been dreaming of making.
Sporting Goods is no longer an afterthought here either! We’ve always wanted to have at least a small selection for shoppers but never had the space or means to display it. Having encountered a rather unique golf club display unit, we now have enough golf clubs to outfit an entire varsity team. Other sports do have a small representation, but they don’t have as cool of a display, so they don’t get a mention here.
Tucked away in the corner of Guy Stuff Central (working title - I’ll never convince everyone else to use it) is an eclectic array of random toys, collectibles, and even knickknacks to spruce up your man cave and have your visitors asking, “but why?” We even have board games back there so you can distract their wandering minds.
Too Many Counters
We’ve had a lot of people come over to the showcases with Kenzi’s art, hoping to be checked out, but that’s not where the register is, so this usually leads to some sort of embarrassment or apology (from either party). Since it’s such a common issue, we thought we’d make it worse! Yes, now her showcases extend further into a new jewelry section! Due to high demand, we’re slowly building up a collection of jewelry and trinkets. Wax Steven has transitioned from greeter to jewelry associate, but he’s still not very personable.
Couches, Tables, and Chairs, Oh My!
We’re stocked full of furniture most of the time, so why not keep that front and center? This is the one constant at Cornerstone: lots of floor space for lots of furniture. The type of furniture, not so much. Right now, we’ve got a small selection of the entire array, ranging from kitchen to living room to bedroom, but that could change by the time you finish reading this product of my incessant yammering. We always strive to have as much stock for your perusal as possible, so if you want to make our lives really hard, come buy a couple tables with that new hutch I convinced you to purchase earlier.
Drop On By!
Located on National Road 40 just east of Centerville, Indiana, we’re both easy to see and easy to miss. Whether you’re just passing through or see our building during your morning commute and wonder to yourself, “What exactly is that place?”, we’ll be glad to meet you, and our shop dog will be glad to greet you! We’re open on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11am to 6pm and always welcoming new and repeat visitors. But don’t wait too long, or we’ll revamp it again and you’ll miss out on this one!
